Hingham Bay Junior Regatta

This is Hingham Yacht Club at HBJR.

Hingham Bay Junior Regatta is one of my favorite regattas, mostly because it's in my home harbor.  Green Fleet sails out near World's End and the Champ Line usually sails out near Sunset Point.  You can always see the yacht club wherever you sail!  This year, I came in third place for white fleet.  I was pretty proud, because it had been a tough day two.  The wind was howling and the waves were whipping and it was about one mph lower than the limit.  On one of the races, I nosedived really bad.  I almost fell out of my boat, and the water was spilling out of the sides.  My family and instructors offered help, but I knew if they helped me, then I would be disqualified and given a DNF.  And I didn't want that.  I lost a lot of places that race but didn't come in last!  My favorite part of HBJR - or really any for that matter - is the dance!!  DJ Cubey comes and it's a really fun night for all of the Opti and 420 sailors and helps with nerves!  This picture shows just how many boats come to Hingham for this regatta - we had to clear out the Crib!
